A transgender convict was sentenced to seven years in jail for raping a female inmate.

After robbing a female inmate in the lavatory at New York City’s Rikers Island jail, a transgender inmate was sentenced to seven years in prison.

On April 7, Ramel Blount, also known as Diamond Blount, pled guilty to attempted rape in what appeared to be a plea bargain.

On February 8, 2021, the 33-year-old inmate approached a female inmate who had just finished showering in the jail’s Rose M. Singer facility from behind, forced her down by the neck, and raped her, according to Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark.

After the victim reported the rape, a rape kit was administered to her, and the DNA results matched Blount’s DNA in the New York State Registry. Blount pleaded guilty to Attempted Rape in the First Degree on April 7, 2022.

Blount was sentenced to seven years in jail and eight years of post-release supervision, as well as the requirement to register as a sexual offender.

“Clark stated,” “Any form of sexual violence against a person is unacceptably cruel. For the heinous attack, the offender was sentenced to seven years in jail.”
