After being declared a self-harm danger, Empire star Jessie Smollett was placed in a psych unit in jail.

Jussie Smollett is being confined in a Chicago jail’s psychiatric wing.

The Empire actor, who is presently being held in the Cook County Jail after being sentenced to 150 days in prison for faking a hate crime, was admitted to the psych unit due to concerns that he could injure himself.

“What’s really alarming is that there was a message connected to the paperwork today, and it mentioned on the front of his jail cell… that he is at risk of self-harm,” Jocqui Smollett, who is outraged by the development, wrote on Instagram.

“I want to just make it clear to folks that he is in no way shape or form at risk to self-harm and he wants to let folks know that, that he is very stable, he is very strong, he is very healthy and ready to take on the challenge that ultimately has been put up against him.

“This is not right. This is complete lack of justice. It’s angering, it’s an outrage.”

After Jussie Smollett was sentenced to jail last week, he yelled to the courtroom that he was not suicidal and would not kill himself while in custody. He added that if anything happens to him in jail, it should be known that he did not do it to himself. The statement was seen as a nod to other inmates like Jeffrey Epstein and John McAfee, who both allegedly committed suicide while incarcerated.
