After the captain becomes ill, a passenger with no experience flying an airplane safely lands the plane.

After his pilot encountered a medical issue mid-flight, a passenger with no prior flying experience safely landed a tiny plane in Florida on Tuesday afternoon, May 10.

According to WPBF-TV, the passenger used air traffic controllers to safely land the plane at Palm Beach International Airport.

“I’ve got a big dilemma here,” the Cessna Caravan passenger reportedly told air traffic controllers around 70 miles north of his destination.

“My pilot has become illogical. I’m not sure how to fly an airplane.”

“Roger. What is your stance? “According to the source, a dispatcher responded.

The passenger responded with: “I’m not sure. In front of me, I can see the Florida coast. And I’m clueless.”

“Maintain a level wing and simply try to follow the coast north or south. We’re attempting to track you down “explained the dispatcher

Controllers assisted the plane’s descent and eventually discovered it at Boca Raton, some 25 miles north of Palm Beach.

The man was then instructed by air traffic control to land the plane on the ground. It was described as a safe and secure landing.

“This is the first time I’ve ever heard of one of these [Cessna Caravans] being landed by someone with no aeronautical knowledge,” said John Nance, an aviation expert.

According to reports, the Federal Aviation Administration believes the pilot had a medical emergency and is investigating.
