As he accepts the FWA Footballer of the Year award, Mohamed Salah predicts that Liverpool will win the quadruple.

After receiving his FWA award in central London on Thursday night, Mohamed Salah pushed on a quadruple for Liverpool.

The Football Writers’ Association, a group of roughly 400 journalists, nominated the Liverpool striker for Footballer of the Year for the second time after his success in 2017-18.

Salah stated that winning the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup in the same season is still achievable for Jurgen Klopp’s side after receiving the trophy from Reds veteran Ian Rush.

‘It feels fantastic,’ he remarked. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to everyone who voted for me. Journalists are, of course, an important part of the football family, and we want to win several more this season.

Mohamed Salah insists the quadruple is on for Liverpool as he

(Does the quadruple make sense?) Yes, I believe so. Not everything is under our control; we must win our Premier League games and wait to see if City drops points. They have a fantastic team and a fantastic management, and I’m confident they want to keep winning. However, it is conceivable.

‘First and foremost, we must finish our Premier League games, and then we will see.’ We have four games remaining, and City has four games remaining in which they can lose points. All we have to do now is concentrate on the Spurs game.

‘After five years together, we know what it takes to win.’ We came back from a 2-0 deficit in our last game, which was played away from home. That is critical for our mentality in the upcoming games. We believe we are capable of winning any award.’

Salah went on to add that the Champions League final against Real Madrid on May 28 will be a’vengeance mission’ for his team, since he was carried off injured following a nasty tackle in the 2018 final, which Real Madrid won 3-1.

‘I’m very excited, and I’m sure the team is as well,’ he continued. They’ve beaten a lot of top teams, so I’m sure it’ll be a tough game. All we have to do now is concentrate on the game.

(Will it be a vengeance mission?) Yeah. We did lose in the (2018) final, and it was a terrible day for everyone. It’s time for vengeance.’

Chelsea striker Sam Kerr won the Women’s Footballer of the Year title after scoring 18 goals for Emma Hayes’ team, which is one point ahead of Arsenal in the Women’s Super League league with one game remaining.
