Before the Miami Grand Prix, Michelle Obama and Lewis Hamilton embrace.

On Saturday, Michelle Obama attended the Miami Grand Prix and greeted Mercedes Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton.

Before his third practice session at the Miami International Autodrome, the former first lady was seen giving the seven-time world champion a hearty hug.

As he returned the warm greeting, Hamilton, 37, closed his eyes. They were also seen speaking and joking with one other, looking to be equally star-struck.

As she watched qualifying from the Mercedes garage, Obama, 58, wore a headset, a clean white shirt with a beaded collar, and wide-framed sunglasses.

Hamilton was sixth fastest in the session, while Mercedes teammate George Russell crashed out of Q2 and will start 12th tomorrow.

The front row of the grid will be dominated by Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, with reigning world champion Max Verstappen filling out the top three.

Meanwhile, Hamilton admitted that qualifying was “nerve-wracking.”

“We’re not sure why we were looking so quickly… He told reporters, “We’re not going to take a stride ahead; we just have to put in the work.”

Dax Shepard and YouTuber Noel Miller were spotted on the course, watching the action from the Red Bull Energy Station, where the music was blasting and the drinks were flowing.
