Craig McLachlan, an actor, admitted to doing a sex act on a banana and emailing footage to a coworker while pretending to masturbate.

Craig McLachlan, an Australian actor, confessed to performing a sex act on a banana and sending a video of himself “pretending to masturbate” while “completely dressed” to an actress he is suing for defamation.

A jury heard how McLachlan used insults and promises of role changes to influence actresses and play them off each other during and after the 2014 run of the Rocky Horror Show.

McLachlan, 56, was questioned for the fifth day in his defamation trial against Fairfax and the ABC about whether he used insults behind their backs when referring to specific women during the theatrical play.

Mr. Hodge said on Monday, “You would degrade one female cast member in speaking to another female cast member.”

McLachlan responded, ‘No.’

The actor denied calling Erika Haynetz, who played Magenta in the production, a “s***” and “ruining the show” to fellow actress Angela Scundi, and claiming that he never called Christie Whelan Browne a “c*** or a bitch” who would never work in theater again.

Mr. Hodge said McLachlan tricked Whelan Browne into applauding him on a 2014 Helpmann prize triumph by suggesting he was quietly in her corner amid the Rocky Horror production’s issues.

During that time, the actress has stated that she felt disillusioned, frustrated, and unsupported.

Mr. Hodge stated that claims he supported Whelan Browne were a ruse to force her to apologize for not praising him after the triumph.

The barrister added, ‘You successfully misled her into apologizing to you.’

‘No, Mr. Hodge, I did not,’ McLachlan responded.

McLachlan claims that his bond with the actress lasted the entire course of the show. In June 2014, he referred to Whelan Browne as ‘Lucifer,’ and in August of that year, he referred to him as a ‘monster,’ according to emails he sent to the show’s director Christopher Luscombe.

The Tony Award winner admitted to bringing sexual jokes and pranks to The Rocky Horror Show, including deep-throating bananas, masturbating crew members’ arms, kissing and grabbing them, and calling others in the show “gobbler.”

Mr Hodge explained, ‘You would peel a banana, shape it in some way to seem like a penis, and then deep-throat it.’

‘Well, the banana is already the right shape, but yes,’ said the actor.

He acknowledged to giving Whelan Browne films of himself fully clothed pretending to masturbate and recordings of him pretending to orgasm in the toilet.

Whelan Browne, according to McLachlan, was a “notorious foul-mouthed individual” who was involved in “deviant sexual practices.” He claims she was lying when she told the media she was offended by his behavior.

Mr. Hodge accused McLachlan of portraying a “deliberately misleading” picture of his connection with Whelan Browne, querying whether the actor had requested her return for the 2017/18 run of The Rocky Horror Show, as he claimed.

The allegations of sexual assault and harassment against McLachlan date back to the 1980s, when he is accused of putting his hand down actress Tamasin Ramsay’s shirt.

During the production of The Doctor Blake Mysteries in 2018, he is also accused of making obscene remarks to Josie Steele while working on City Homicide in 2008, touching Anna Samson’s bottom, and kissing Tamzen Hayes.

The ladies were all in their 20s and 30s at the time of the alleged assaults, according to the verdict, with McLachlan being a decade or two older.

The Supreme Court of NSW hearing is still ongoing.
