Despite Russia’s warnings, Germany agrees to provide anti-aircraft tanks to Ukraine.

The German Defense Ministry has declared that the country has agreed to supply Ukraine with anti-aircraft tanks.

During a meeting of foreign defense officials at the US Air Force facility in Ramstein on Tuesday, April 26, Defence Minister Christine Lambrecht announced the delivery of the Gepard anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine.

“We decided yesterday to support Ukraine with anti-aircraft systems… which is exactly what Ukraine needs right now to safeguard the airspace from the ground,” Lambrecht stated during the base meeting.

This is the first time Germany has agreed to transfer such assistance to Ukraine, despite Russia’s warning that Ukraine should not get such weaponry.

Germany had previously declined to contribute firearms to Ukraine, stating that it would instead focus on humanitarian aid and medical supplies.
