Fifa approves Ademola Lookman’s switch from England to Nigeria

The London-born Leicester City striker represented England at the U19, U20, and U21 levels. He was a member of the European side that won the 2017 Fifa U20 World Cup, which was held in South Korea.

He scored three goals in that tournament, including a brace in the Three Lions’ 2-1 Round of 16 victory over Costa Rica.

Lookman set in place conditions to move his international commitment to the Super Eagles in January 2020.

According to AOI, former technical assistant Tunde Adelakun told the media, “Lookman has applied for the switch and all the documentation are in order.”

“When he pledged his commitment to Nigeria, it was a fantastic step forward, and now all we need is Fifa approval.”

“Once the go-ahead is given, coach Gernot Rohr will have to evaluate whether his club performance merits a call-up.”

“We’ve filed for three former England youth players, but they’re all aware of the stipulation.” All of the players have been instructed that the only way to get into the team is to play regular club games.”

He was originally selected for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, but he was unable to represent the West Africans since Fifa had not yet approved his request.
