For defiling his neighbor’s 6-year-old daughter, a 75-year-old man was sentenced to life in jail.

In Kenya, a man was sentenced to life in prison for defiling his neighbor’s 6-year-old daughter.

Wilson Motunde Enima, 75, was sentenced by senior chief magistrate Esther Bhoke at the Kibera law court in Nairobi on Thursday, April 14, after being found guilty of the crime.

On May 17, 2017, in Lindi, Kibera, Enima violated the minor inside his house while her mother washed clothes outside.

Shortly after getting home from school, the child went inside Enima’s house to play. She stayed for around 30 minutes at the residence. Concerned, her mother peered into Enima’s residence, where she discovered him standing near the youngster.

After that, the girl exited the house. When her mother inquired about what she was doing with Enima in the house, the girl initially denied anything had happened to her.

The victim’s mother accompanied her to her mother-in-law and informed her of the incident, asking her to check on the kid.

The child’s private parts were checked by the mother–in–law, who stated that nothing had happened to her.

But, once her mother found a horrible odor coming from her private parts while bathing her, the child opened up. Enima had defiled her three times, she revealed.

She was transported to a hospital and treated before being released, and the incident was reported to the Kilimani police station. Enima was charged on May 30, 2017, and after a five-year trial, he was found guilty.

The child stated in court that the offender began groping her before defiling her.

“”I went to his place and he offered me his phone so I could play some games, then he got on the jerrycan and began stroking my thigh,” she testified in court. He then commanded me to take off my pants, which I did, but when I informed him my mother had advised me against it, he contaminated me. It was excruciatingly uncomfortable “she stated

Enima told Bhoke, through a lawyer, that he has a family who is completely reliant on him, including a 23-year-old son who is ill.

He claims he is the primary breadwinner for his six-person family because his wife is unemployed.

Bhoke, who called the crime “barbaric,” said she examined the mitigation as well as the law’s restrictions.

“I so convict him to life imprisonment, and he has a 14-day right of appeal,” Boke stated.

A defendant found guilty of defiling a child under the age of 12 years faces a mandatory life term under the Sexual Offences Act of 2006.
