‘He genuinely hit me,’ Chris Rock’s mother says of Will Smith’s Oscars smack.

Chris Rock’s mother has spoken out about Will Smith’s infamous smack at the 2022 Academy Awards.

“When Will slapped Chris, he smacked all of us,” Rosalie “Rose” Rock said in her first interview since the March 27 incident with South Carolina television station WIS-TV.

“However, he actually slapped me.” Because if you injure my child, you’re hurting me as well.”

The 77-year-old South Carolina native stated that, like many other viewers at home, she initially mistook the television slap for a manufactured incident.

She didn’t understand the joke wasn’t phony until Smith, 53, “began using obscenities” directed towards Chris, 57.

In the interview, Rose was also asked what she’d like to say to Smith today if they were able to speak.

“I don’t know what I’d say except, ‘What in the world were you thinking?'” Because you slapped someone, but a lot of things may have happened as a result,'” she continued. “Chris could have taken a step back and fallen, and you could have been arrested and handcuffed. So you didn’t think about it.”

Rose went on to say that Smith made his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s day throughout the event.

Rose referred to her son’s joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head, saying, “She was mulled over laughing when it happened.”

“No one could hear him speak. No one could just be in the moment because everyone was sitting around wondering, ‘What just happened?'”

Chris is “doing better” now, according to Rose, but is “still digesting” all that happened.

Will Smith slaps presenter Chris Rock

Smith stormed the stage and attacked Chris when the comic joked, “Jada, I love you, ‘G.I. Jane 2,’ can’t wait to watch it,” according to Page Six.

The 50-year-old host of “Red Table Talk,” who has spoken up about her alopecia, rolled her eyes when her husband rushed the stage and repeatedly yelled, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f–king lips!”

“Wow, Will Smith just knocked the s–t out of me,” Chris reacted at the time, before justifying what was “simply a ‘G.I. Jane’ joke.”

“That was the greatest night in television history,” he continued.

Chris has since quipped that he won’t confront the world’s most famous slap until he sees some cash.

“I’m fine.” According to the Desert Sun, he remarked during a comedy set at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif., last week, “I have a complete show, and I’m not talking about it until I get paid.” “It’s a good life. “I was able to reclaim my hearing.”

Despite Chris’ decision not to seek charges against Smith, the “King Richard” star has resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and has been barred from attending any Academy events for the next ten years, including the Oscars.
