In South Africa, a man slits the throat of his girlfriend’s 8-year-old daughter.

In Mamelodi east, Pretoria, South Africa, an 8-year-old child survived after her throat was sliced by her mother’s lover.

On Thursday, May 5, the accused, Sipho Tony Nkosi, who is charged with attempted murder, made his first court appearance at the Mamelodi Magistrate’s Court. He was denied bail and incarcerated. Members of the public gathered community structures and organizations outside the court to support the family of the Grade 2 victim.

According to the authorities, the 31-year-old suspect is dating the mother of the child.

“It’s reported that on April 24, the couple attended a funeral when they got into an altercation,” police added.

“The accused went to a place where she stayed to attempt to sort things out the next day, while the mother went to a nearby car wash.”

He discovered the young lady with her grandmother. The accused is accused of slitting the child’s neck with a butcher’s knife he discovered in the kitchen.

After turning himself up at the Hammanskraal police station, the accused was detained.

Yesterday, members of the community, the lobbying group Not In My Name, and other organizations gathered outside the court to express their indignation.

According to the child’s father, the attack occurred while his daughter was visiting her grandmother at Mamelodi East’s Khutsong extension.

According to the father, his daughter and her younger sister resided in Montana with their mother and the accused.

According to him, the accused and the mother got into an argument after the mother ordered the man to leave. He allegedly declined.

“He then retaliated against the mother by cutting my daughter’s throat.” He went into the grandparents’ house, took a knife from the kitchen, and executed my child by slitting his throat. When her mother returned, she discovered our daughter’s throat had been slit,” he said.

The girl had been admitted to the hospital and was now in the intensive care unit, according to the father.

He continued, “She was stabilized in Mamelodi hospital and sent to Pretoria East hospital.”

The fight will continue, according to the father, who vowed he would do everything in his power to ensure Nkosi was denied bail.

“I’d like to express my gratitude to the people and organizations who came out to support us.” We’ve heard that he’s facing numerous charges, which the police are looking into.

“I am relieved that the police have finally apprehended him, as they have been seeking for him since 2019 in connection with a gender-based violence case.” This appears to be what he enjoys doing to women and children.”

The minor has been released from the hospital and is receiving treatment from social workers and psychologists. She can communicate, but not properly.

Outside of court, Themba Masango of Not In My Name spoke to the crowd, saying that when a kid is victimized, it affects everyone. He stated that we were all South Africans before joining any organization.

“As a Mamelodi community, we must stand together to ensure that we get rid of these animals on our streets,” he stated.

Masango stated that they would show up in force for the next court date on May 30.
