In Spain, a popular Ukrainian blogger accused of being a pro-Putin propagandist has been jailed for “high treason.”

Anatoliy Shariy, a pro-Russian blogger accused of treason by Ukraine’s Security Service, has been jailed in Spain.

“On May 4, 2022, Shariy was apprehended by Spanish law enforcement officials. This was made possible by the Security Service of Ukraine’s strong cooperation with the Prosecutor General’s Office, international partners, and a multi-level special operation by Ukrainian law enforcement personnel, according to the statement.

According to the SBU, this detention is another another proof that every Ukrainian traitor will face a just punishment sooner or later.

Shariy is suspected of committing offenses under two sections of Ukraine’s Criminal Code: Article 111 (treason) and Article 161 (assault) (violation of equality of citizens depending on their race, nationality, religious beliefs, disability, and other grounds).

Shariy, according to SBU investigators, engaged in criminal operations in the information realm that jeopardized Ukraine’s national security. Shariy may have acted on behalf of foreign entities, according to evidence.

“A number of professional studies have proved that Shariy’s interviews and speeches contain facts of his subversive operations against Ukraine, as evidenced by the investigation.” He was named a suspect last year, according to the statement.
