Man United’s dressing room is ‘divided’ over Erik ten Hag’s appointment as manager.

Manchester United’s dressing room is said to be divided over Erik ten Hag’s likely appointment as the club’s next manager.

Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Paris Saint-Germain, is a contender for the job, although the Ajax coach is the favorite.

According to the Manchester Evening News, while some players are enthused about the prospect of working with Ten Hag, others see him as a ‘underwhelming’ alternative for interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

As Sportsmail reported in February, a number of Spurs players still want Pochettino to take over as manager.

Gary Neville and Nicky Butt, both former Manchester United players, have backed Pochettino, despite the latter acknowledging that Ten Hag is the clear favorite.

Pochettino has remained tight-lipped about speculations tying him to the Manchester United job. However, the club’s management is coming closer to appointing Ten Hag as the club’s second permanent Dutch manager after Louis van Gaal.

Ten Hag has previously discussed a possible move to Old Trafford with United.

In an interview made after Ajax granted him permission to speak to United last week, Ten Hag praised United as a “wonderful club with great fans.”

‘In the industry, everyone knows everyone,’ Ten Hag told Sport1. ‘It’s natural to have discussions with representatives from other teams.’

‘Manchester United is a fantastic club with fantastic supporters. But I’ll just say it again: Ajax has my undivided attention. We’re already making preparations for the next season.’

Ten Hag has guided Ajax to two Eredivisie and KNVB Cup doubles, and his team is four points ahead of PSV Eindhoven in the title race with six games remaining.
