After her father’s death, Willow Smith appeals to the public to “be compassionate.” Will’s slap at the Oscars

Just days after her father, Will Smith, struck Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars, Willow Smith is preaching about kindness.

The 21-year-old singer shared a remark from motivational speaker Jay Shetty on her Instagram Story, saying, “You know who’s going through a lot right now? Everyone, in fact. Just remember to be nice.”

The tone of the statement was similar to that of Smith’s mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, who said, “This is a season for healing, and I’m here for it.”

Willow’s brother, Jaden Smith, 23, on the other hand, appeared to defend their father smacking Rock shortly after the live attack.

“And That’s How We Do It,” he tweeted shortly after the 94th Academy Awards wrapped Sunday night.

Earlier that evening, Will, 53, rushed the Oscars stage to slap Rock, 57, after the comedian joked about Pinkett Smith’s bald head, which is due to her struggles with alopecia. The graphic Willow Smith shared on her social media after the slap.

“Jada, I adore you,” the “Saturday Night Live” alum joked. “I can’t wait for ‘G.I. Jane 2.”

Will received the Academy Award for Best Actor for his part in “King Richard” when he hit Rock.

The “Bad Boys” star apologized to everyone except Rock during his award speech.

Will, on the other hand, offered a formal apology to the stand-up comedian the next day on Instagram.

On Monday afternoon, the Oscar winner added, “Violence in all of its manifestations is corrosive and destructive.” “My conduct at last night’s Academy Awards was disgusting and irresponsible.” Jokes about my Jada’s medical condition are part of the job, but one was too much for me to handle, and I reacted emotionally.”

Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, Will Smith, Jaden Smith and Trey Smith attend the 2022 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
Will was accompanied by all of his children and wife at the 2022 Oscars.

“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris,” he added in his statement. “I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”

It is unknown whether Rock has accepted the mea culpa, but the “Madagascar” actor has chosen not to press charges over the assault.
