Björn Ulvaeus of ABBA and his wife Lena have divorced after 41 years of marriage.
The pair, who married in 1981 and have two children together, has announced that they are divorcing, but that they “remain excellent friends.”
“After many fine and adventurous years, we have decided to split,” the pair wrote in a joint statement.
“We’re still close and wonderful friends, and we’ll keep celebrating our grandchildren’s birthdays and other family events together.”
Björn and Agnetha Fältskog, who he married in 1971 before ABBA became renowned, began dating shortly after Björn’s divorce from his ABBA co-star Agnetha Fältskog.
Bjorn and Lena had met at the home of ABBA teammates Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad for a New Year’s celebration.
Björn earlier stated of Lena, “We truly fell in love with lightning.” “It’s funny that you’re a bachelor for a week and then immediately fall in love.”
