Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, has tested positive for Covid-19 three days before the start of his team’s domestic and European competitions.

The news was confirmed by the Spanish giants in a statement released on Wednesday morning, March 30. It is a setback for Madrid as they prepare for a Champions League match against Chelsea next week.

Ancelotti will miss Madrid’s LaLiga match against Celta Vigo on Saturday due to his isolation at home.

In the absence of his father, Davide, the 62-year-son old’s and assistant, will be in charge of the Real team.

“Our coach Carlo Ancelotti has tested positive for COVID-19,” read a brief statement from Real Madrid CF.

It’s unclear whether the Italian is experiencing any symptoms or is feeling ill.
