Drake laughed off a TikTok video mocking him for celebrating the 18th birthday of his mate Millie Bobby Brown.
After their friendship raised eyebrows in the past, a user named @skylarsheerman remarked that the “Hotline Bling” rapper, 35, is likely thrilled that the “Stranger Things” star is now of legal age.
“Drake after Millie’s 18th birthday announcement,” read the TikToker’s caption over a photo of Brown. “Finally, I’ve been trying to catch you boys all day,” she remarked, adding music from “SpongeBob SquarePants.”
Brown turned 18 on February 19, and the video was posted three days later on the social media platform.
Drake, on the other hand, appears to have only recently become aware of the popular video, responding on Monday with the phrase “Loool.”
“Hahahaha s–t,” the user replied.
Drake and Brown’s unlikely friendship first made headlines in September 2018 when the Netflix star revealed the “In My Feelings” rapper texts her.
Brown told “Access Hollywood” during a red carpet interview at the time that Drake would tell her that he “misses her” and also shared “advice about boys.” She was 14 time at the time and he was 30.
People on social media remarked how strange it was for the pair to be buddies given their nearly 18-year age gap.
One person tweeted, “that’s just weird. why he giving peoples young ass kids dating advice. that’s just sus! why is he even texting with her to begin with lol.”
Another agreed, “Doesn’t anyone find it odd he’s texting a kid?”
However, Brown defended the friendship in a post on her Instagram Story soon after the backlash.
She wrote, “Why u gotta make a lovely friendship ur headline? U guys are weird… For real. I’m lucky to have people in the business extend their time to help me further my career and offer their wisdom and guidance.”
The actress concluded, “I’m very blessed to have amazing people in my life. U dont get to chose that for me. it’s nice to have people understand what I do. Now get back to talking about real problems in the world other than my friendships… jeez.”
Brown is currently dating Jon Bon Jovi’s son Jake Bongiovi, with whom she celebrated her 18th birthday with a throwback-themed party.
