Fans have turned to social media to criticize Adidas after the company revealed on Wednesday, February 9 that Kurt Zouma, a West Ham footballer, would no longer be sponsored.
Zouma, a black French player, has come under fire when a video surfaced on Sunday showing him repeatedly kicking his cat. His club has fined him £250,000 for the incident, and his dogs have been taken, while Adidas has ended its sponsorship of the footballer.
Meanwhile, Luis Suarez, a white Uruguayan footballer, was only issued a warning by Adidas in 2014 after racially abusing Manchester United’s Patrice Evra.
Adidas has now been accused of being racist by fans on Twitter.
According to one Twitter user,
‘After racially abusing Patrice Bergeron, adidas issued a warning to Luis Suarez.’
