This follows a report in The Mirror claiming that Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo are in a power struggle about who should captain the team between now and the conclusion of the season.

According to the article, the United tandem has discussed the subject with interim manager Ralf Rangnick, with Maguire hesitant to hand over the armband for fear of losing it permanently.

‘I’ve read a lot of reports about this club that aren’t real, and this is another,’ Maguire commented on Twitter in response to The Mirror’s report. I’m not going to start posting about everything that’s been said, but I felt compelled to do so on this occasion.
