Lion killed by hunters in Sambisa forest

A lion was slain by hunters in Borno State’s Sambisa Forest, which is located in the Konduga Local Council.

The lion is thought to have wandered from Cameroun’s Waza Game Reserve before being apprehended and killed by hunters on March 15.

Peter Ayuba, Director of Forestry and Wildlife in the state’s Ministry of Environment, confirmed the occurrence in Maiduguri, saying:

“The lion may have wandered from Cameroun’s Game Reserve.” Similar occurrences of elephants from the Reserve infiltrating settlements have occurred in the state’s Kala/Balge council.”
