Nearly a year after reconnecting, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are engaged.

Nearly a year after reconnecting, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are set to tie the knot.

On Friday, April 8, the American actress and singer confirmed their engagement in a brief video she put on her fan newsletter, ‘On The JLo.’

In the video, Jlo couldn’t hold back her tears as she proudly displayed her stunning green engagement ring and exclaimed, “You’re amazing.”

The couple was previously engaged in 2002, but the engagement was called off. In 2021, they rekindled their romance.

In March, when Lopez collected the Icon Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, Affleck showed his support for his soon-to-be wife.

“We’re older now, we’re smarter, we have more experience, we’re at different points in our lives, we have kids now, and we have to be very mindful of those things,” Lopez told PEOPLE. “We’re at different places in our lives, we have kids now, and we have to be very conscious of those things.”

The Marry Me actress, 52, has 14-year-old twins Emme and Max with ex-husband Marc Anthony, and Affleck, 49, has Violet, 16, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

Lopez told PEOPLE, “It’s a fantastic outcome that this has happened in this fashion at this point in our lives where we can really appreciate, celebrate, and respect each other.” “We always did, but now we appreciate it much more because we know how life may take you in unexpected paths.”

She went on to say, “We’ve been in the public eye long enough to know who we are as individuals and what really counts and what doesn’t. We have children and treat each other with respect… We truly live lives that we are proud of, and our children can be proud of you. We simply operate from a position of love and respect for everyone in our life, which is really important to us. We are aware of the truth and regard it as sacrosanct.”

Lopez and Affleck began dating in July 2002 and were engaged in November of that year, but their September 2003 wedding was postponed just days before the date. In January 2004, they called off their engagement.

Affleck told WSJ. Magazine in December that he considers himself “fortunate” to have been given second chances in both his professional and personal lives.

“In my professional life, I’ve been given second chances. As a human being, I’ve been given second chances. Life is challenging, and we constantly fail, hopefully learning from our mistakes “he stated “The second chance is the one thing you really need to take advantage of the opportunities that come with that growth. I’ve made every effort to take advantage of it. I haven’t always been successful, but when I have, it has turned out to be one of the most important things of my life.”
