Scout Willis has shared a sweet snapshot of herself and her father Bruce Willis, who just announced that he is retiring from acting due to health reasons.
His family confirmed earlier this week that the actor had been diagnosed with aphasia, a disorder that affects a person’s cognitive abilities. As a result, the actor has decided to take a break from acting.
Since the news was shared on social media, there has been an outpouring of support, with his daughter Scout, 30, speaking out about the reaction.
Scout shared a snapshot of herself and her father sitting together and smiling at each other on Instagram Friday night, describing the event.
She penned a letter to her “father” as well as his supporters with the photo.
She expressed herself as follows: “Sharing something so intimate was odd yesterday. I wasn’t sure how it would go over. When you share yourself so openly into the world, there’s always the fear of the unknown.”
She went on to say: “I had hoped for some compassion and affection. I could never have imagined the depth and breadth of the love our family experienced yesterday.”
Scout, whose mother actress Demi Moore, 59, described the experience as “humbling,” as she realized how much “love, energy, and prayers” were being sent her her.
She spoke directly to the audience, saying: “I am indebted to you for your kindness. I’m touched to learn how much my papa means to you. Thank you so much to everyone that got in touch with me.”
