“Who Says” Selena Gomez will let an ex-boyfriend get in the way of her friendships?
The singer shared photos with DJ pair Simi Khadra and her twin sister, Haze Khadra, on Thursday, just days after Simi was caught kissing Gomez’s ex-boyfriend The Weeknd.
“Since 2013,” commented Gomez, 29, in a sequence of photos of the three laughing and hugging.
Given her strong relationships with both Gomez and Bella Hadid — who dated The Weeknd on and off since 2015 — Khadra’s new reported romance perplexed many admirers.
Hadid didn’t seem to take the news of Khadra’s romance with her ex-boyfriend as well as Gomez did. After rumors leaked that Khadra and her ex were getting intimate at his 32nd birthday celebration, the 25-year-old model unfollowed the twins’ joint Instagram account.
“The Weeknd and Simi have been seeing each other and having fun together. They were acting very couple-y this past weekend at his birthday celebration in Vegas,” a source told Entertainment Tonight.
“It’s easy since they have known each other for a long time. Simi is supportive of The Weeknd and they have a natural flirtation and chemistry.”
Rumors that The Weeknd was dating Khadra, 28, started swirling earlier this month after they were spotted on several dinner dates together in LA, E! News reported.
Hadid and the “Blinding Lights” singer started dating in 2015 and called it quits after a year and a half. They gave things another shot in July 2018, only to break up again a year later in August 2019.
The model is currently dating art director Marc Kalman.
The “Blinding Lights” singer dated Gomez from January to October 2017 during The Weeknd and Hadid’s first breakup. Gomez has referred to the musician — real name Abel Tesfaye — as a “wonderful friend” after their breakup.
Gomez claimed at the time, “I genuinely have never experienced anything like it in my life.” “We ended up becoming best friends, and it was actually about encouraging and caring [for each other], which was fairly amazing for me.”
