Tory Lanez was arrested and freed on bond for allegedly breaking Megan Thee Stallion’s court restrictions.

Tory Lanez, a Canadian rapper, was arrested on Tuesday, April 5, after a Los Angeles judge concluded that he had violated protection orders in Megan Thee Stallion’s case.

After shooting the female rapper in the foot in 2020, Lanez, whose true name is Daystar Peterson, was charged with assault. Since then, he has been forbidden from contacting her or discussing any aspects of the case with anybody else. Lanez was arrested and appeared in court in Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 5, for allegedly violating the injunction by posting details about the case on social media.

Prosecutors said there was evidence that Lanez directly addressed Stallion on social media and revealed DNA evidence to a third-party Twitter user at a court hearing on Tuesday, April 5. In February, Lanez sent out a tweet that stated, “D*** had me f****** two of my closest friends… I was apprehended… I apologized for it… But that’s disgusting how you spun it, “addressing Stallion, according to reports. He eventually took down the tweet.

“Tory Lanez DNA was not detected” on the gun used to shoot Stallion in 2020, according to a now-deleted social media post by YouTube star DJ Akademiks on Feb. 23. The YouTuber later claimed that the results were “inconclusive in discovering TORY DNA on the gun or magazine” in a follow-up tweet.

Despite the fact that Lanez’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, argued that his client did not offer Akademiks with any knowledge about the case, L.A. County Superior Court Judge David Herriford agreed with prosecutors that the rapper’s latest social media remarks were specifically directed at Stallion. The judge ordered the male rapper to stop mentioning the case or Stallion in public. Lanez was released the next day after posting bail of $350,000.

“Mr. Peterson’s bail should be revoked or increased to $5 million, according to the DA’s proposal. We are relieved that the Court turned down such ludicrous petitions “After the rapper’s release, Holley told People.

In October 2020, Lanez fired at Stallion as the bikini-clad rapper exited her Cadillac SUV after an altercation with the “Stupid Again” singer. The 29-year-old rapper was charged with one felony offense of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, one felony count of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and one felony count of personal use of a firearm, although he pled not guilty to all counts.
