After finding his father’s gun in the backseat of a car, a four-year-old kid accidently shot himself in the head.
When disaster happened in the city of Westwego, near New Orleans, USA, Jarion Walker was sitting in the back seat with his two younger siblings, aged 22 months and one year.
According to investigators, his mother was in the front seat smoking pot with another adult when the youngster picked up the revolver.
On Saturday, Jan 29, about 10:45 p.m., Jarion was brought to the hospital and died of his injuries.
Coroner Gerry Cvitanovich described the wound as “a contact wound to the forehead, directly above the right eyebrow.”
Although no arrests have been made, authorities have indicated that an investigation would be conducted.
“I don’t think it was proper to make an arrest at this stage,” Mr Lopinto added.
“They recently lost a child, and it wasn’t on purpose in the least.”
Mr Lopinto stated that the kid is believed to have discovered the gun underneath the seat.
The weapon, according to authorities, belonged to the boy’s father.
Following the tragedy, the Sheriff’s Office is now advising gun owners to lock their firearms.
