Elon Musk is the ‘richest man ever,’ according to Forbes, after surpassing Jeff Bezos by more than $100 billion.

Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and CEO of Tesla, has been named the World’s Richest Man by Forbes magazine.

According to Forbes’ real-time rankings of the world’s wealthiest people on Tuesday, April 5, Musk’s net worth has increased to $300 billion.

Musk has a $100 billion advantage over second-placed Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon (AMZN).

Musk was also named to Twitter’s board of directors this week (TWTR). He is currently wealthy more than twice as much as Berkshire Hathaway (BRKB) CEO Warren Buffett, who began investing when he was 11 years old in 1941. Buffett has a net worth of $125 billion dollars.

Musk is also worth considerably more than former Microsoft (MSFT) CEOs Bill Gates ($136 billion) and Steve Ballmer ($100 billion) combined.

He’s also worth more than Larry Page ($120 billion) and Sergey Brin ($115 billion), the co-founders of Google (GOOGL).

Musk’s net wealth, according to Forbes, exceeds Colombia’s and Finland’s GDPs. He surpassed the likes of John D. Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as monarchs and rulers like Mansa Musa of the 13th century Mali Empire and Augustus Caesar — who reigned from 27 BC until his death in AD 14 — to become the richest person ever, according to Forbes.
