Manuel Lanzini, a West Ham footballer, remarkably survives a car accident in which his £70,000 Mercedes flips.

Manuel Lanzini, a West Ham United footballer, has amazingly survived a violent vehicle collision, walked away unharmed.

On Wednesday afternoon at 2:30pm, the 29-year-old midfielder was being transported by a chauffeur in a £70,000 Mercedes people carrier when it lost control.

The vehicle, a Mercedes V-Class with a West Ham number plate, crashed on its side, frightening many bystanders.

However, a club spokesperson verified to Sportsmail that Argentina international Manuel Lanzini walked away from the incident unharmed as firefighters and police went to the site.

Lanzini was examined for injuries at the scene of the accident and again at West Ham’s Rush Green facilities in east London, where he was scheduled to train.

After being called up to Argentina’s squad for World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Ecuador, the player was being taken back to the training facility.

‘It’s a marvel he’s alive, from what I’ve heard,’ a source told The Sun of the accident involving Lanzini, whose partner Jennifer Reina gave birth to their child in January.

‘This was a terrifyingly close call, and Lanzini and the driver could have been killed.’

‘Chauffeur services are commonly used by West Ham players, especially those who live in the city.’ Because they were on a dual highway, the accident could have resulted in full devastation.

‘It simply goes to show that no matter how much money you have, you’re still vulnerable to a heist like this.’

Lanzini joined West Ham on loan from Al Jazira Club in 2015-16 before making the move permanent. He has scored 28 goals in 193 appearances for the east London club.

He has also represented his country five times, with his most recent appearance in 2019 for the Albicelestes.

In March 2018, he scored his only goal for Argentina in a 2-0 friendly win against Italy at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.
