Mason Greenwood, a Manchester United player, has beefed up security at his £14,000-a-month Cheshire property after being bailed ‘waiting further investigation’ by police on suspicion of rape, sexual assault, threats to kill, and assault on an 18-year-old student.

The England striker, 20, was released from detention this morning after spending three nights in a cell after being arrested on Sunday, January 30.

After disturbing photos and recordings surfaced on social media suggesting he assaulted an 18-year-old student, the 20-year-old was detained on suspicion of rape and assault. On suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill his alleged victim, he was re-arrested while in custody yesterday.

‘A 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of rape and assault on a woman has been released on bail pending further investigation,’ according to a Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman.

While the police examine him, Manchester United has already stated that he will not play for the club or train with them.

He’s no longer available in United’s online store or FIFA ’22 versions. Nike has terminated his sponsorship agreement, and Cadbury, one of United’s major sponsors, has stated that it will no longer use his logo.
