Jennifer Lopez has revealed how Ben Affleck proposed to her and how it was the most romantic thing she has ever experienced.
On Tuesday, April 12, the singer revealed this in her “On The JLo” email. Lopez confessed in the “How It Went Down” newsletter that she was “completely caught off guard” at the time.
She had written:
“On Saturday night, my gorgeous love got down on one knee and proposed to me in my favorite place on earth (the bubble bath).”
“I just stared into his eyes, smiling and crying at the same time, trying to wrap my head around the reality that this was happening all over again after 20 years.”
“I was dumbfounded, and he asked, ‘Is that a yes?'” I said. “Of course, that’s a YES,” I said.
Lopez, 52, said she cried when Affleck, 49, proposed to her and felt the simplicity of the proposal added to the romance.
She continued,
“I was so happy and entire that tears streamed down my face, and I was smiling so broadly.” It wasn’t anything special, yet it was the most romantic thing I’d ever seen.
“Just two individuals agreeing to always be there for each other on a quiet Saturday night at home.” Two really fortunate individuals. “Who received a second opportunity at real love?” “Who got a second shot at true love?”
Lopez said the plan was “completely unexpected” in a video that accompanied the newsletter.
She stated,
“I’M MARRIED!” It came as a complete shock. Ben, my love, came in and dropped down on one knee, saying some things I’ll never forget, then pulling out a ring and asking, ‘Will you marry me?’ And it was the most ideal situation.”
Lopez also discussed the meaning of the green diamond in her engagement ring, saying that the hue has always been “lucky” for her.
Added the singer:
“He hands me a ring with a green diamond on it,” he says. [Green] is not only my favorite but also my lucky hue. Obviously, it’ll always be my lucky hue. When someone cares about you, loves you, and sees you, it means a lot. And it was the most ideal situation.
“I consider myself really fortunate. It’s not often that true love gets a second chance.”
Lopez is rumored to be dating someone. Soon after his split with Alex Rodriquez, Affleck began making the rounds.
Lopez revealed dating Affleck in a series of lovely images from their vacation in Europe in June 2021, on the occasion of her 52nd birthday.
In September of that year, the two made their (again) red carpet debut as a couple at the Venice Film Festival.
