Senegal’s leader presented each of the players and coaches with a $87,000 plot of land in Dakar and bestowed on them Senegal’s highest order, Grand Officers of the National Order of the Lion, at a ceremony held at the presidential palace in Dakar on Tuesday night, February 8.

“In addition, as a token of thanks and on behalf of the country, the players and other members of the official delegation will each get a special bonus of 50 million francs CFA ($87,412) and a 200 square meter plot of land in Dakar,” Sall stated, according to Metro.

The Lions of Teranga will also receive a 500-square-meter plot in a memorial estate in Diamniadio, a new futuristic economic and industrial city 45 kilometers south of Dakar, where a new national stadium will be inaugurated on February 22.

President Sall congratulated the players on reaching Africa’s “peak,” and praised coach Cisse for his efforts.

“You’re perched atop Africa. “Thanks to your tenacity, talent, and dedication, you have restored to us the pride and honor that distinguishes great people,” he remarked.

“I’d want to express my gratitude to Aliou ‘El Tactico,’ our coach. He doesn’t say much, doesn’t make a lot of noise, but he is efficient, and he delivered us the Africa Cup, as I previously stated.
